In 2014/2015 we undertook a complete rebuild/renovation on our property at Glendowie. It was a major! After "interviewing" 3 builders we chose Cary Gleeson and his team. Throughout the process Cary was clear with expectations and met us every week onsite for a debrief on the weeks progress. The team and Cary offered practical advice along the way which meant a far greater use of space and functionality. They remained on budget and Cary was prompt with invoicing and clear on what all the costs were providing complete transparency when clarification was required. The team were amazing. They were at all times punctual, polite and according to our neighbours never stopped!!! There work ethic and attention to detail was superior and at times when we became frustrated with the process they reassured us that it would all be worth the wait. Cary and the team are still our go to for any handyman jobs on our home!! There subcontractors were also similar in workmanship. We now have a delightful home that is everything and more than was imagined. Trung Cary one night shortly after in Winter when the rain was pouring down and thanked him for creating a home that felt so solid, warm and cosy! I would highly recommend Cary and his team for any building project that you are contemplating taking on.

Building a house is a big commitment and can be very stressful if you do not have a builder who is able to work with you to realise your dream. After we decided on a design and had the plans and resource consents granted we started the process of finding a building company who could do the job and that we felt comfortable to be able to work with. We had heard a lot of horror stories with the big franchise type operations in the way of using hammer hands, instead of certified builders and the use subcontracted trades people without suitable supervision on the part of the main contractor. Gleeson Builders are a local company in the area (Glendowie) and Cary employs his own team of guys and I say team as they all work closely together and have a team spirit which I found great as it made the building process run smoothly and in some ways a fun experience. Any areas that need changing due to unforeseen problems were discussed and in most cases a better way of achieving the same outcome was found. We would be more than happy to build again with Cary and his team of merry men as we couldn't be more thrilled with the final product and it was all because of the attention to detail demonstrated by the entire staff. I write this letter of recommendation for Gleeson Builders - who completed a sizable renovation on my house in 2018 (this included a second story with bedroom and bathroom, a downstairs bedroom, internal access garage and driveway). Cary and his team did a fantastic job on renovating my home. There was always very good communication and any hitches and changes (as to be expected when working with an older house), were always communicated to the architectect and myself and sorted out quickly without fuss. I felt completely at ease talking with the builders on site, they were polite, safety conscious and always willing to explain what was happening in regards to the build and the timeline. The scheduling, sub-contractors and supervision was professional and many people have commented to me on the quality finish. I am happy to recommend Gleeson Builders for their expertise and honesty - nothing was ever too much trouble. It was a very positive experience and I am thrilled with the finished renovation.

Cary Gleeson and Gleeson Builders recently completed an extension to our house that added more than 100 m2, including bedrooms, an ensuite, a laundry room and internal garage. Cary and his team did a fantastic job and we are so appreciative of what they did and how they did it. Cary's most valuable attributes are his honesty and integrity. From the very first interview we felt that we could trust him and that proved to be true. He was always honest, paid his sub-contractors and kept our budget and conditions foremost in his project management. These attributes can be very difficult to find in the industry and we are so glad to have found him. Cary's team of builders is great, as they are extremely skilled, professional and conscientious. Cam and Sai are particularly experienced and perform their work to a very high quality level and quickly. We know that our extension will last for decades without issues, The other skill to call out is the accuracy of Cary's cost estimates. He took over our extension mid-work and his estimate of the final cost came in within a few percent of the final, actual cost, which speaks to his vast experience, thoroughness and honesty. He tells you the truth, not what you may want to hear. They are often booked out for months and months but in our experience, it's better to wait and have it done properly rather than try to get it done quickly by someone else and then have headaches. They are worth the wait. I recommend Gleeson Builders unreservedly and will use them again for any building projects we have.
